For the past year we’ve taken on projects to help improve the soil of our land by growing cover crops such as Sunn Hemp, Sunflowers, & Sudangrass. By allowing certain crops to grow on your soil, you help improve soil biodiversity, water retention, and improved yields. When growing many of these different cover crops the roots help break open the soil from being compacted and allow it to ‘breath’ more freely, you reduce the amount of weeds that grow in those areas through competition for space, and finally after mowing them down at their peak growth cycle you allow the crop to break back down into the soil and provide the ground with its nutrients through decomposition. Our lands are healthy, naturally, without the use of pesticides or artificial products.
